Help Wanted

This page contains voluntary opportunities only. Since Open Coffee Ballyclare is completely independent, we are not currently in a position to pay anyone. All volunteers, however, would be promoted on this website and our other online profiles as Sponsors of Open Coffee Ballyclare, for a defined period.

Poster Designer

We need someone to create a one-off poster that could be placed in prominent venues, shops locally, to help advertise the network. Many local business people are missing out on news because they’re not (often) online, where most of our activity and news outside meetings tends to happen.

Poster Printer & Distributor

Once a poster is designed, we’d need someone to print and distribute it to town centre retailers and other local businesses. This need not necessarily be the same person.

Facilitators

This has become a tradition at Open Coffee Ballyclare. We’ve had several professionals volunteer (mostly without prompting) lead a discussion, deliver a talk, or answer difficult questions in the field in which they work. This has provided local business people with access to know-how they’d otherwise not be able to access. Read the list of previous topics.

If you’d like to contribute your time and expertise in this way, get in touch.

Hosts

We’ve been extremely fortunate to have had multiple offers of business owners, schools and charities willing to host our meetings, and we’ve yet to get around them all. If you’d like to offer your office, venue, board room, barn, garden, bar, restaurant or cafe for this purpose, we’d love to hear from you!

Generally, we need tea, coffee and a bun, and space for about 25 attendees.

Facebook Account Manager

Researching the local business and related news, events, developments and changes takes time, even when much of it is automated with Google alerts, RSS feeds and bookmarked sites. Selecting interesting pictures to go along with it also takes time.  We need someone who can schedule a minimum of two daily posts to Facebook, and add events.

Responsibility for responding to comments and messages would be rest with the Coordinator.

Twitter Account Manager

The same points about Facebook content research apply to Twitter (see above). We need someone who can schedule a minimum of two daily posts to Twitter. Of course, anyone can post about OCB on Twitter; use the hashtag #opencoffeeballyclare.

Responsibility for responding to comments and messages would be rest with the Coordinator.

If you can help volunteer your time in any of the above ways, please get in contact. Students are welcome. And, it makes much more sense for those who do help us out are based in the Newtownabbey or Country Antrim area. Preference will be given to those who attend.
