Report on Ballyclare Chamber of Trade AGM
The Ballyclare Gazette reported on the recent Ballyclare Chamber of Trade’s AGM, which took place on Monday 15th April at Barnaby’s, Ballyrobert:
“Outgoing President Darren Black thanked members for their hard work over the course of the previous year, and said that there had been significant progress on various issues during the past twelve months.
A big issue has been parking. We had a very positive meeting with council recently in relation to free parking. We are hopeful that there will be a resolution there within the next five months,” he said.
We have had the first bit of money coming through from DSD, and work has begun on the demolition of Happy House,” added Mr Black.
Treasurer Margaret Armstrong said that attracting new members was an ongoing task for the Chamber, with 28 paid up members at present. She added that the group remains in a stable financial position, although the set-up of the Chamber website last year proved to be a sizeable expense out of the overall budget.
New President Alison Thompson acknowledged that there were challenges ahead for businesses in the town, but urged every trader to play their part in promoting Ballyclare as a shopping destination.”
